    Default Seleucids vs Allies

In my saba campaign I seem to be in the start of an ancient world war with all the factions in the east battling it out on two distinct sides

On one side is Seleukids* and Makedonia

And on the other, the side I'm dubbing Allies, is me*, Ptollies*, Pontos, Hai, Pahlav*, and Baktria (maybe Epeiros later too)
    * actively involved in the war.
And what's bad is the Seleucids are actually winning, despite being surrounded by potential enemies.
I set up the network of alliances but the Seleucid Thoratikai Agemates Basilikou and endless Klerouchs are pushing back my (typically sabaean) non-elite army, taken back Antiocheia, Babylon and Charax from when me and Ptolemy captured them, and taken Nisa, Tarsos and Sidon from their starting owners while Asaak and Persepolis are in the hands of the Allies. I have yet to bring Baktria into the war, but I hope they make a difference as their empire strectes from Gava-Saka to Alexandropolis. The point is, I’m running out of money and my empire (the places bordering Arabia Eremos, minus Bostra, Seleukid starting territories and add Persepolis) and has very few places where I can train anything better than level 1 troops.

    Any advice?

I think in the beginig you chose wrong side ...you should chose AS as ally then get stronger and beat Ptolemaioi but now.....

I think you should give some cities to get ceasefire from AS. Get stronger then break alliance with Ptole. get ally with As , get stronger and beat ptole..in Egypt you can find strong units...than you can deal with AS..

    Sorry for my English..

They make it a desert, and call it peace.

Soon enough everyone will make peace and you'll find yourself fighting against them alone. The AI tends to do that. Surprised it hasn't happened already to be honest.

May not happen on medium difficulty, perhaps even hard.

    Ok update on the war.
It's going slightly better for me now.

@Atanamir: I tried ceasefire for the only settlement I was willing to let go, they refused and then took the settlement back. I was allies with the Ptollies almost since the beginning, AS attacked me, and I just helped Ptollies relieve the siege of Jerusalem, so I'm not particularly interested on that front.

I am playing on medium/medium as I like reasonable AI and winnable battles, also I'm not the world's greatest general.

@Sdragon: When I posted only me, Ptolemy and Pahlav were enemies of the AS, now

Pontos is now in the war and Makedonia swapped sides, preferring to support Pontos, leaving AS alone, bar the Romans. As of now Pontos has taken Ipsos and Asia Minor is looking quite purple

    @eggthief: A few little screenies

    Where the war began

    The Borderlands

Diplomacy the turn before Pontos joined the war

Saba's 'elite' awaiting their certain destruction.

    Persepolis... gone!

True allies- relieving the siege of Hierosolyma
Of course when (or if) AS is destroyed the alliance will obviously dissolve by one of the group betraying me. I however hold myself to a code of honour. I don't break alliances.
By the way, I've taken Axum recently, not sure if it shows up on any of the screenies. It seems to be helping my economy quite a bit, with 2nd level gold mines, so I think my future may not be as defeat-ridden as the last few have been

I fought a huge war as well once - Romani (ME!) AS, Baktria and Saba against Ptolomy, Hai, Phalava, Carthage (only held Mallorca, no ships!) and Lustonnan. The AS was a 5-city state, the Yellow Death had Egypt and Jordan as well as the old Arche (or most of it), The Saba had Arabia, I had the entire med save the ptolomy's lands, Hellas, Anatolia, Italia and South Spain. It culminated in a huge, 5000+ warrior fight between the Arche, Roma and Baktria against Ptolomy, a tiny Saka army, a Phalave Horde and a few Hai. It crippled the Yellows, killing all 5 of their generals (they had mysteriously taken an allergy to the tea..), left the Seleukids with just one leader, the heir being slain with honour, Rome took Egypt in a few turns and had become easily the most powerful faction in one climatic clash of arms, one of the few appliccations of the 'Waterloo Principle' I have seen in TW. The Battle was near Arbela, prompting Alexander references from the sons and grandsons of his men on the seleukid side.

It was once a larger war, but the Koinon, Epieros and the Averni (on the enemy side) and my allies the Aedui had been killed.
