Default Removing the Unit Bar and Unit Banners

Well im going to try and make a movie, you know like small clips of battles and the like. Well it wont look very professional or good if i have these on, does anybod know how to remove them temporarily so i can make the battles look more professional?

I already kind of know how to get rid of the Banners, i just cant get rid of the unit bar that runs across the bottom of the screen.

    Any help would be appreciated

You can go to RTW/Data/Loading Screens/LOading Bar - and there you can edit it. So make it invisible or chang it to something that would look cool for your movie. Other than that going to data and editing it, i'm not sure. Maybe someone else will know a second idea.

btw, here's the full adress - The Creative Assembly/Rome - Total War/Data/Loading Screens and in Loading screens loading Bar.

EDit: misread oh, i'm sorry do you mean the command bar were like all your unit cards are, or something? If it's that you could just use a editor of some sort to take it out of your movie. Or you could cover it up with a cool border.
Sorry for the misread. if that's wrong too, please explain further.

Well this is kinda trickey so i'll say something now and then go snoop around the options with move maker.

But here's what I got so far. - If you're going to have a shapshot you can edit it out or put in a border easily. And if you think snapshots aren't cool, think agin. But for the recording a battle thing this is just a thought but i'm pretty sure there's an option where you can just hide it. I can only look around so much on MM though becuase I don't have anything that records, hence I don't know the options for it.

    Sorry not my strong spot.

You can play the custom battle and then select the "save battle replay" option ...
Then choose the replay and if you have Fraps then you can make small 30 sec clips with it ..
After that you can edit them with the Windows Movie Maker ..
There is an option how to remove the pause/faster buttons too but I have forgotten how to do it

I am not at my computer , but iirc there is a config file in the rome library, that lets you remove the green highlights on troops and the banners. It also lets you play with minimal ui.

Try that if you can find it - sure there is a guide on how-to-do-it somewhere on the org.
Nope - no sig what so ever.

I was thinking about the same thing, haven't done it myself, but I think it was explained somewhere in frostbeastegg's guide. I'm not sure though.

The preferences file mentioned - "preferences.txt" - can be located in [path to your R:TW directory]\preferences\preferences.txt". Typically the entire path is "C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\preferences\preferences.txt" in the case of Gold, or "C:\Program Files\Activision\preferences\preferences.txt" in the case of the standard version (not Gold).

You can change options by modifying the text after the name of the option from "TRUE" to "FALSE" or visa versa.

    The options I understand are:

SUBTITLES - creates subtitles for general's pre-battle speeches and the messages shouted out during the cut-scenes.
MORALE - turns morale on or off for non-arcade battles (for arcade battles this is off automatically).
FATIGUE - turns fatigue, whether men tire or not, on or off for non-arcade battles (for arcade battles this is off automatically).
LIMITED_AMMO - turns unlimited ammunition on or off for non-arcade battles (for arcade battle this is off automatically).
EVENT_CUTSCENES - turns the event cut scenes which occur when a general has died or a wall has been broken down.
VEGETATION - turns vegetation on the battlefield on or off.
AUTO_SAVE - turns auto save on or off.
SHOW_BANNERS - hides or shows the huge flying banners over the top of units.
UNIT_EXPERIENCE_UPGRADE_EFFECT - I think, but don't quote me, that this turns off the sparkling on units when they gain an extra rung of experience on the battle field.
ENABLE_UNIT_SPEECH - stops or allows units from speaking when you order them to move or select them.
DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS - when set to TRUE, the green arrows underneath units when selected are turned off.
LABEL_CHARACTERS - when set to TRUE it enables all characters to have their name shown on the strategic map like settlements are by default.
LABEL_SETTLEMENTS - toggles whether settlement's names and other basic details, such as happiness, status (such as rioting, plague and siege) and settlement income, are shown underneath the settlement on the strat map.
MINIMAL_UI - this is the great one you are looking for! It hides the large UI of the battle map and makes it like the one shown in Attila's movie shot!
MUTE_ADVISOR - in effect this does what I always have wanted to do - it gags that irritating advisor woman - Victoria - and her evil twin Brother - Centurion Marcus. It simply causes them to be totally silent.
BLIND_ADVISOR - this handy tool removes the advisor's speech bubble from appearing when he/she wants to speak.
MICROMANAGE_ALL_SETTLEMENTS - this turns of auto-manage for settlements without a governor.
UNLIMITED_MEN_ON_BATTLEFIELD - this allows an unlimited amount of men on the battlefield at once - no longer do units have to wait their turn to fight with this great tool on TRUE!
CAMPAIGN_MAP_CAMERA_SMOOTHING - this makes the campaign map camera move nice and smoothly.
EDIT_SETTLEMENT_NAMES - this allows you to rename your settlements. It's a really interesting tool - for example I once renamed Rome after my favourite Carthaginian general. This one is my personal favourite.

    Hope this is useful
