I dont get this

ok im defending one of my provinces agianst the french and and the battle i fought was a river battle. The AI seems to only go for one bridge so i put all my infantry to the one bridge that they were heading to and sent my calvary to the other bridge to hit them from behind. But before any of that can happen i have to kill 1 and a half group of crossbowmen and 1 group of archers. My calvary consists of half a group of hosp. knights and one group of royal knights. I attack the crossbowmen with my royal knights and attack the archers with knights hosp. My Royal knights get defeated and run away and i had only 2 hosp. knights. The only reason i had 2 hosp. knights left was because the army retreated before they could kill them off.

I just dont get this.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Did you charge them all the way across the bridge? If you did They sure must of been tired by the time they reached the Crossbowmen.

Were you being fired on by the crossbow men when you were charging them? If so you suffered a Moral Penality and lost some guys. Crossbow can Kill armored units.

You combine the two above and you have very unhappy Knights. You do the same thing to the Enemy when your defending and they charge your Crossbowmen under fire. They always rout.

What you should of done is just march them into range then charged. I bet the outcome would of been different.

They didnt even fire at me but i did run them across the bridge. Guess that was my mistake.

Wow, didn't even fire? Are you sure? If so, it must have been high honor units vs. your low honor. I have never seen such a thing. But initially, i would agree with the above: if they are moving slowly, they are so much meat for the xbows.

Hmmmm if they didnt fire then even if they were tired your right your guys should of killed them. Strange. Never seen it happen like that before.

actually Muffin charging you horses from stating point all the way around to second bridge and then attacking is bad. By the time you get in range of the crossbows, thats when you charge.

Anyway ... I am not the monster here, you are, u and those fairy tale ... things!

So ... cowardly knights run from crossbowmen who arent firing... this just proves my horses are allergic to pointy sticks post ...
