need help with screen resolution

Hi, I just got a new notebook and I'm having problems finding the right screen resolution playing EB. When I use the preset max resolution of the note book which is: 1680 x 1050 with the following display specs:
17", TFT WSXGA+ and use the same resolution in game, the graphics are a bit distorted since it is a broad display. What would you recommend, getting a real nice view of EB with my new TFT display?

There's unfortunately not much you can do about that other than lowering the settings ...

Currently you have a 16:10 ratio; the game prefers 4:3 *but* if you toggle widescreen mode (not sure what it actually does as I never noticed much effect) it should have an appetite for 16:9 as well. At the maximum your laptop can display that would work out 1680 * 945.

However be forewarned that RTW's GUI seems to have been made with 1024*768 in mind; so it will look blurry at higher resolutions.

Did you check the "Widescreen" option in the set up page?
