Knights of the old republic 1 & 2. Although it has to be noted that 2 reeks of Lucas Arts telling Obisian that they were done NOW!!!!
Oblivion, plus all of it's content. You can buy a GOTY edition with the Knights of the nine quest line and the Shivering Iles expansion. I can also recommend the Frostcragged Spire and Dunbarrow cove content packs. On the negative side it has a level scalling system that is crap. But the PC version can be modded so that it is less ruthless.

In place of 'ruthless' I would use 'pointless'. The scaling system in vanilla Oblivion boils down to every battle being exactly the same since you are always matched against an equal opponent. As you progress through levels the entire population goes with you. Tough creatures appear out of thin air, lesser creatures become spontaneously extinct.

That's why there are mods out there. One of them scales battles to a point, so you wont end up with super awesome bandits with glass armor every time you step outside the city with a high-level character. It definitely adds atmosphere to the game.

I think I posted earlier somewhere a glowing recommendation of properly modded Oblivion. I use Fran's overhaul mod for the world and AF leveling for characteristics and think Oblivion is one of the greatest RPGs ever. The content is terrific and the gameplay is repairable.

Oblivion is quite fun to play if you stay at level 1. I have a level 1 character with 30+ hours played, all the main storyline finished, and working through shivering ilses. I'm a combat beast, and nearly unkillable due to my Imperial Dragon armour from beating the game. Its complete junk if you actually level up, but at level 1, its great.

Anyways, Age of Conan is quite a fun MMO. Free for all pvp, yes please.

If you don't want an MMO, Baldur's Gate 2 is the height of the RPG genre, both in storytelling and gameplay. It has yet to be matched, and likely never will. The graphics are simple, yet effective, and don't suffer from being dated. There is no excuse for not playing this one, and if you do not enjoy it, RPGs are not for you.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines is also a great game with a ton of content, and a fun action based combat system.
"Sit now there, and look out upon the lands where evil and despair shall come to those whom thou lovest. Thou hast dared to mock me, and to question the power of Melkor, master of the fates of Arda. Therefore with my eyes thou shalt see, and with my ears thou shalt hear; and never shall thou move from this place until all is fulfilled unto its bitter end". -Tolkien

Okay, I've got an issue. I purchased KOTOR 2, and after installing it, I received an error message and the program cut out when I tried to play it. Would anyone here know what the deal is?
It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then, the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.
