and i installed some mini mods too, but i'm not sure if they actually have to do with units morale

you just answered your question...
it has nothing to do with the .exe-or mods. your game's battlefield difficulty is causing the problem. there is a huge bonus for the enemy, while you units' stats get axed.
play on medium-life will be easier on you. also EB is balanced on easy (in other words its already hard enough).
Ideal is M/H (M for battle, H for campaign), at least for me.
