You don't say. Well, after looking like wusses for years, they finally played well again. What pleases me is that they played the old Dutch game, spacious, relaxed, yet quick and dangerous from one moment to the next.

Alright, I'll join in, but with a Sonnema Jenever (gin), not Oranjeboom (beer) or whatever.

I'm now questioning why I have given so much credit to Italy in my predictions table thread.

Seriously, these guys lack enormous offensive variation while the defense looks like nothing without Cannavaro or Nesta 's guidance.

Oh man, let my predictions sink. I've not seen Holland this good for quite some time and I'd love to see them trampling over every other opponent like this until the very end.

w00t WooT !

I believe you got 10 points for the right result, wrong scoreline. Like me.

There is nothing more glorious in football than an Orange machine on the roll. What a game!

No, more than a game. A religious experience. A prayer. An orgasm. The definitive proof of God. This mere mortal, for one, bows to the supremacy of our orange overgods.

@InsaneApache: No, I had a 2-1 France win and 2-1 Italy win, I think.

Oh, get a grip. Have a Sonnema.

Yikes, superb from the Dutch. Their slightly obscure defence was rock-solid (Was that the same Boulharouz who played for Chelsea?) and their attcking midfield three were sublime. The injury-enforced changes to the starting line-up seem to have paid dividends.

OK moving on..

Spain 2 - 0 Russia

The same Boulharouz who sat in the dugout for two years at Real.

You're welcome any day, mate.

What is Engelaar doing at Twente? Excellent work from him, even if the final passing
was a bit off. And don't think Robben should walk straight back into that side.

No points at all from today's games, but I don't mind at all; Netherlands have decided to be Jekyll rather than Hyde this year so all is well with the world. And because of the draw earlier the "group of death" is wide open.

Netherlands surely in with a good chance if they can keep up that standard (although that said, when have they ever managed to do that?), easily the best team we've seen so far in what to be fair has been a pretty disappointing tournament.

Actually, the Netherlands really surprised me. Makes me rethink everything now. Though I want to see them fare against France first (which we still regard as the team of egocentric players).

Indeed the Netherland surprised me ( in a positive way of course) wich is great as I was most fan of them. Never deared to expect this though. They should definately be regarded as having chance to getting far, if not to win the tournament. This cannot be denied any longer. Winning 3 agaisnt Zero against Itlay can never be pure luck. Never!

First goal offside but an amazing match by the Dutch. Playing like that they are the big favourites.

Match Day 4 prediction:

Spain 1-0 Russia
Greece 1-0 Sweden

No it isn't. Punched by Buffon, Christian Panucci was lying off the pitch, near the goal, which rules out the offside option.

It's not luck. The Italians just didn't get any cheap calls in their favour.

Wasn't Panucci off the pitch for treatment though? If that were the case, RVN would have been offside. I've been trying to clarify this, but none of the major football websites seem to mention it.

Not a good day for me but a good day (atleast half) for Euro 2008.

Match Day 4 prediction:

Spain 2-0 Russia
Greece 0-0 Sweden

Matchday 4:

Spain 2 -1 Russia

Spain should be too good, but Russia could surprise a few people.

Greece 0 - 0 Sweden

Boring nil-nil draw. Typical Greece.

Woohoo! I was looking for 2-0 (didn't put it up before the game) but 3 is just fine by me

As for tomorrow:

Spain 3-1 Russia

Greece 0-1 Sweden

Watching the game on TiVo now.

As far as I could tell, he wasn't off for treatment, he got right back up after the goal. Buffon pushed him out. The rule is:

The rules don't say anything about what side of the goal line the second defender has to be on.
http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affe...006_e_1581.pdf Rule 11. I guess next year there will be a new diagram in the rulebook covering this issue.

So I guess it depends on how close to the line the Italian player was crumpled vs where RVN was when the ball was played.

Regardless, the second goal by Sneijder was genius. Holland: Total Football.

I'd like to participate but I seem a little late, plus the fact I don't know much about any of the teams. But I do enjoying watching the games.
