The mtw ai is probably more advanced and complicated, but in terms of tactics on the battlefield the stw ai always used to give me more of a challenge than in mtw, i think the main problem with the battlefield ai on shogun is the suicidal diamyo (or just a general that is cavalry)
The main reason for better battlefield ai in stw is everything is more simplified for the ai, im not sure if it helps the ai but there is a much better balance between the units in shoggy as well...

I agree that's probably the biggest reason for it. Shogun's AI handles far fewer unit types than in MTW, particularly hybrid units (which it's never been able to truly utilize effectively). MTW's AI is hampered by Nizaris, Jinnettes, and the like.Originally Posted by LittleGrizzly
