EB freezes at startup/installation problem

I have RTW Gold (patched 1.5) in a clean install, downloaded EB 1.1 and installed to same folder (not in program files)

The installation seems to have gone smoothly.

Starting up it starts with the initial RTW screen that then goes to the EB (light brown background) screen. At that point it however freezes. It seems to be in a loop or not finding certain files it needs. RTW disk is in CD drive.

I checked verification and it shows error message Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError

I would appreciate some help in sorting out the problem

EB is a heavy game, but worth the wait ten times over.

No, its not a question of patience, Im aware that it would take time to load. Like 20 minutes, half an hour later its still on the initial screen. Does not react at all, not even to Cntr+Alt+Del. Must press restart on computer

The fact that the EB intro screen is there tells me you've installed it right.
You could validate your install (see stickies) if you think there a problem.

Make sure you have no other programs running in the background.
And it sometimes takes more than half an hour on my pc too. I have only 512MB and especially when I just started the pc things tend to go really slow...

And the fact that it's not reacting to ctr alt delete is normal.

maybe I should let it run for longer and see whether it maybe moves on.

On validation it does show error Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError

Try to start the game before going to bed. If it's up when you've slept, it's a matter of patience versus wallet.

However, there are a number of other suggestions in the validation sticky that you should try, such as disabling movies with the -nm switch.
