I tried it myself and got nothing.
but that's me, let's hope Spartan gets something.

Ok the file you want is export_descr_sounds_units_voice.txt.
Open it up and find out what file it sources for the greeks Heavy_1. The vanilla is:
for the first entry and similar ones follow. If its different you need to change all the entries to the vanilla ones.Code:folder data/sounds/Voice/Human/Localized/Battle_Map Greek_Heavy_1_Groups_Created_1.wav

what's with all the coding?
Oh dont open the .dat file. You shouldn't need to fiddle with that. If you want to change voices get the .idx extractor and extract all the wav files. They are all packed up for vanilla.

oh, thanks.
Okay, found the file (the vanilla RTW version). But it has three different entries for hoplite elites like the one below:
All look to be exactly the same. What next?unit greek hoplite elite
event
folder data/sounds/Voice/Human/Localized/Battle_Map
Greek_General_1_name_greek_hoplite_elite_1.wav
folder data/sounds/Voice/Human/Localized/Battle_Map
Greek_General_1_name_greek_hoplite_elite_2.wav
folder data/sounds/Voice/Human/Localized/Battle_Map
Greek_General_1_name_greek_hoplite_elite_3.wav
group
end

I recon get ur hands on the vanilla idx and dat files named voice1 voice2 and voice3 that are in the sounds folder unless you have some other voices you really dont want to lose in which case unpack the voices with edx extractor change the wav files to vanilla and then re-pack.
Building for the Future of METW
I think I found something.
This from vanilla Rome:
And this one from XGM:unit greek hoplite elite
event
folder data/sounds/Voice/Human/Localized/Battle_Map
Greek_Heavy_1_name_greek_hoplite_elite_1.wav
folder data/sounds/Voice/Human/Localized/Battle_Map
Greek_Heavy_1_name_greek_hoplite_elite_2.wav
folder data/sounds/Voice/Human/Localized/Battle_Map
Greek_Heavy_1_name_greek_hoplite_elite_3.wav
group
end
Would I remove greek hoplite elite from the unit list at the top of the XGM quote, and then paste the vanilla RTW entry into the XGM file?unit greek pikemen, greek hoplite, merc greek phalangites, greek hoplite elite, egyptian nile infantry
event
folder data/sounds/Voice/Human/Localized/Battle_Map
Greek_Heavy_1_name_greek_pikemen_1.wav
folder data/sounds/Voice/Human/Localized/Battle_Map
Greek_Heavy_1_name_greek_pikemen_2.wav
folder data/sounds/Voice/Human/Localized/Battle_Map
Greek_Heavy_1_name_greek_pikemen_3.wav
group
end

I believe so
Backup and try
Building for the Future of METW
Okay. Do I need to put the vanilla entry in a specific place, or not (within the sound file, I mean)?

That's right, as long as you take care to keep them in the appopriate culture/voice-type section of the file (they should be there already anyway) You'll need to provide the sound file though.

Norman Invasion - The fate of England lies in your hands...
Viking Invasion II - Unite Britain in the best TW campaign ever!
Gods and Fighting Men: Total War - Enter the Mists of Myth in Ancient Ireland
So as long as it's bunched in with the Greek_Heavy voices, I can put it anywhere in the file?
