Best love movies?

I'll second Becoming Jane. I can handle chick flicks when they are period pieces, and faithful to the period. That way my brain can engage with it as a historical film rather than a romcom. Check out the BBC's versions of Jane Austen for very highbrow chick flicks.

I'll agree with period pieces as well. Paying attention to the historical aspects makes it easier to swallow the romantic stuff.

Only if numerous stacks of books, Lego space sets, and classic Transformer figures posed all over my bookshelf count as "tasteful".

Casablanca goes without saying, but my favourites of the romantic genre (and I make no apology for being a sucker for this stuff) are:

Breakfast at Tiffanys
Robin and Marion (look it up - it's a real gem)

and Emma (the Gwyneth Paltrow version).
