why is it doing this?!

i patched my game to 1.5 and installed europa barbarorum onto it (rome worked fine before i modded it, i checked) and almost giddily I started it up expecting sheer nirvana from the game but it got to the faction selection screen, i chose wich side to play, hit the button to start the game and it crashed to desktop with a message about a debugger running, to turn it off and retry the application. it does this every time i try to play eb but never with anything else(including rome-tw) what am i doing wrong?

You are running some program that the copy protection deems bad, such as something that could be used to crack the copy protection (fat lot of good that did ), or you have done so earlier since restarting Windows. The first thing you should do is restart Windows and see if it works then. If not, check which programs are automatically started when you do.

If the message disappears but the game still crashes, you should try all the suggestions in the installation validation sticky.

I believe all of these problems are a result of the newer versions of safedisc cp the new patches and newer games use...
