"I swear so soon as age will permit I will use fire and steel to arrest the destiny of rome" - Hannibal Barca at the age of 9, ca238BC
"Against those who have incurred the wrath of God" - Genseric, King of the Vandals, ca455CE, replying to his helmsman whither he should steer. His fleets now yearly sailed from his new capital Karthadast. The whole of Africa, Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica and the Balearic Islands quickly fell in his hands. Then he sacked Rome. For 14 days and nights Genseric pillaged the city and returned to Karthadast, carrying much booty and many thousand captives, the empress and her two daughters. The city and the people were spared. Yet, they are the 'vandals'.
They've been taken out of the recruitment roster.

lol, would be fun to use their 17 attack 37 defense stats
you know why they were taken out? They still appear in the export descr unit file as recruitable by the Lusotannan (spain)
any way to mod them back in? which file would i have to mod?

They were made unrecruitable because though there is some evidence. (The armor existed, they were mentioned,...) The evidence and their nature doesn't really justify recruitable units. Thus they were made unrecruitable for realism's sake.
But as you can read in the other topic (link posted above), they can be made avaible easily.
If I understood Sarcasm, the current Iberian FC, correctly, they are going to get axed. There's a reason their recruitment is disabled, after all, and unit slots are even more valuable in EB2 than in EB1.

Yeah, I don't see them returning into EB II. It was a great unit, looked cool and stuff. But then again Lorica Segmentata looks cool too. But that doesn't change the fact that isn't Historically the correct option.
well, at this rate, the Thorakitai Argyraspidai will be the last of their breed (the super heavies that is)

In EB 2, they could be recruited as a one unit only in Cantabria. It would be plausible, within EB Historical limits.
BLARGH!
Hey, if you guys find out what that passage is, I'll take a look at it. In the mean time, sorry, but they're going the way of the dodo.

No. The leftmost image is the original Thorakitai Argyres (before the inclusion of the Dosidataskeli), and the second to the right is the current one. Both the helmet and the shoudler protection have been altered to conform to the Dosidataskeli model.
(The image of the original Thorakitai Argyres is taken from the front-page of the EB website)/

Note some of the changes were also due to historical reasons if I remember correctly.
@Jolt bodyguards from other tribes,...shouldn't be recruitable.Even if only one could be recruited. And if it would be limited this much, it would be waste of the model slot. Unless there is evidence that suggest they were used frequently and are effictively attested. However I don't see that happening. SO I guess we can safely state they won't make it.
The armor they use is Heavy chain mail and a layer of fishscale armor. IIRC.
I agree as to where the unit limit goes, compared to the unit quantity/province of recruitment, but I don't see any problem where a unit of bodyguards wouldn't be able to enter the game, considering it could be a Vascii King/Warlord and his bodyguards, much like there are other factions who depict nobles and their companions.
BLARGH!
Maybe there could be the possibility of being able to get them as a merc general's bodyguard in Cantabria? This should satisfy historical accuracy, and curtail the unhistorical spamming of these guys (though I don't really see them as spammable, they were pretty expensive in 1.0).
Just a thought.
