Default Any tips for a Sabaean campaign?

Hello to everybody, first I'd like to state that I'm new to posting on this forum after several months of lurking :]

I just installed EB again several days ago, and I'm planning on trying the Sabaean campaign this time.
I would be glad to hear some tips from anybody who played this faction before, as i'm quite interested in getting this campaign go well, which I heard isn't quite a walkover like the Romani campaign i tried last time I had EB.

So, any advice is welcome :]

Look out for revolts in your favour in Axum. Indeed there's some rich pickings over there, as far as I can tell, although grabbing it will put you in competition with the Ptolemies.
It began on seven hills - an EB 1.1 Romani AAR with historical house-rules (now ceased)
Heirs to Lysimachos - an EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR with semi-historical houserules (now ceased)
    Philetairos' Gift - a second EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR

I usually start my Sabean campaigns by taking the three cities around you with the starting troops, then disband everything and spend a few years building up an economy. Mines are very important. You need to make sure you are in a good financial position before taking on the Ptolies or AS, and if you play VH campaign difficulty chances are they will ally and try to take you down together.
Archer Spearmen are absolutely awesome, Ethiopian Light Spearmen are pretty good too, for the cost. You have a pretty cool infantry bodyguard unit too, the starting faction heir usually ends up with 3 gold chevrons after a few years if you use him well in battles. Just be careful of cavalry charges into the flank - your general can easily be killed, I always have a cavalry unit protecting the generals side.
Good luck, they are my favourite faction.

johnhughthom speaks the truth. Take the 3 nearby cities and build up your economy for a bit. Then spam archer-spearmen with a few red sea infantry to take on armoured foes.
Why did the chicken cross the road?

So that its subjects will view it with admiration, as a chicken which has the daring and courage to boldly cross the road,
but also with fear, for whom among them has the strength to contend with such a paragon of avian virtue? In such a manner is the princely
    chicken's dominion maintained. ~Machiavelli

Thumbs up Re: Any tips for a Sabaean campaign?

as they said take the 3 nearby cities but don't stop there.
send some spies to keep an eye on the ptoleis, and go east and take the other arabian provinces but leave gerrhaia_arabia rebel so don't have a border with the selukids
by this time ptolei probably has declare war so the next thing is to go after southern egipt and first take ertraia so the ptoleis are slowed down adn that is a great place to defend against them because there are only two bridges leading to your citi and then while holding these bridges go for kush and diamat the have very good gold mines. after that, if your a decent player, it's only a meter of time before you have ptolei by the neck
about units: archer-spearmen, slingres and Pantodapoi Phalangitai that are great keeping the ptoleis pahlanxes pined

You know those Abbir Ezrahim? You can't afford not to use them, as they are your best horsemen unless you get some good regionals. Use archer-spearmen as your force, red sea axemen as flankers. Numbers are your allies here, and safety in position. I like to sometimes go right for India because of the regionals available there, it's hard to take the town, though.
