Thread: Forced diplomacy cheating

    Default Forced diplomacy cheating

Do you think that using forced diplomacy is cheating given the woeful state of diplomacy in RTW? Or is it realistic (i.e. nations not reacting rationally - it would have been anticipated that Rome would have accepted Hannibal's terms half-way through the 2nd Punic war based on their lack of success however in real life they didn't).

almost everybody uses it, for one reason or another. M2TW will lower the need for it..

Couldn't care less whether or not it's "cheating". It's the only way to get around the stupid way CA programmed the diplomacy AI, where it doesn't actually assess or balance anything, but simply refuses to accept anything from the human player.

I "cheat" all the time anyway, to give advantage to AI factions, to transport their troops to where they're needed, to fill or deplete their treasuries.

It began on seven hills - an EB 1.1 Romani AAR with historical house-rules (now ceased)
Heirs to Lysimachos - an EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR with semi-historical houserules (now ceased)
    Philetairos' Gift - a second EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR

It's only cheating if you make it so.

I regularly employ auto_win, add_population and add_money to make things realistic and smooth.

Sometimes I wonder why CA even put diplomacy in the game... I mean - everybody's always at war with you, no matter their current situation, and you only have peace on those borders where the adjacent factions haven't really noticed you yet... I try not to use FD, because I tend to get caught up in the 'cheating' part of it. But I'm gonna use it to annihilate Saba now, that is, besiege their capitol, then buy all their other towns and then storm their capitol. This is because I'm tired of having to win perfect victories once every second turn when they attack Bostra. I'm gonna leave Arabia once they're dead, so I'm not even getting any advantage of it.
Moreover, I advise that Syracusans must be added to EB (insp. by Cato the Elder )

Is looking forward to the 2090's, when EB 20.0 will be released - spanning the entire Eurasian continent and having no Eleutheroi - with a faction for every independent state instead. Look out for the Gedrosians, the Cretans and the kingdom of Kallatis!
