Thread: Body of Alexander Mission Working?
Victor1234 21:05 12/06/08
Is the Body of Alexander Mission working in EB 1.1 (with hotfixes)? I recall reading a thread where it was said that it didn't work in 1.0, but there's nothing in the 1.1 changelog to say it's been fixed.

If anyone knows whether it works or not in EB 1.1, please do share.

Thanks,
Victor

I think there's a bunch of events that got the axe and haven't been reinstated. That would be one of them.

Edit- just checked the EBBS. It's deactivated.

Ever since the inclusion of the Sab´yn several missions like that hasn´t worked.

I don't know if the removal of this one was tied to the addition of Saba. I think the triggers for the body return were just so complex that it was almost ensured that you would mess up at some point.

Okay, but I think it was Hax that said that several missions became inactive after Saba´s addition, and that he thought that Alexanders body was one of them. Considering who said it though...

Are you calling me A LIAR?!

I call myself...economical with the truth.

But seriously, I heard that the mission was deactivated because it didn't work after the inclusion of Saba (romans_senate)?

I vaguely recollect reading it was due to Saba's inclusion also. Just thought I would pipe in as I would hate to think people would consider Hax a liar.

So, without re-naming the senate you can have similar missions, am I right?

The removal of romans_senate removed dynamic event messages. There used to be windows that popped up that would tell you that the Baktrians had betrayed the Seleukids and declared independence and other such messages.

Hmm... What would happen (When the quest actually worked) if the guy who took the body, was attacked mid-way and killed? Let's imagine, say. Going by boat back to Pella, attacked by a Pirate fleet and sunk. Would Alexander miraculously swim back to Alexandria, place himself back in the shiny glassed sarcophagus and await the arrival of another "Destined one" to return him to his rightful place?

Arr, then he would have had a seaman's grave! I don't think he would have magically respawned.

Edit: I just recalled. It wouldn't work anyway, I believe only the guy which has the Nikesas Alexandrou trait may move the body.

Yeah, but the city could be lost and retaken, and so Alexanders zombie can swim back to Alexandreia and be shipped to Pella. A worthy end for a great general.

Oh, but it would not end there! After Oliver Stone's "Alexander" movie, much analogous to the first simply "Matrix" movie, we would have "Alexander: The Zombie", where the plot begins with the wish for Alexander, who is really a god and is still temporarily alive (And able to breath underwater for an even smaller period), to return to Alexandria, to take a boat and be buried in Aigai. Then there is a great division in Olympus between the gods: Those who think Alexander should fulfill his last wish thanks to his great deeds, and those who think he should have the fate he would have if he was not a god. It has fights with Poseidon and Zeus (Gods who oppose his final wish), and their creatures deep in the Mediterrainian (Alexander is helped mainly by Dionysus, who supports his wish), up to Alexandria and then "Alexander: The Returned" where the plot begins with the defeated Greek Gods, out of desperation, launch mighty catastrophes over Alexandria, totally destroying it: Poseidon launches a Tidal Wave against Alexandria, Zeus sends thunderbolts which start huge fires, and Hades provokes earthquakes. He is than forced to take the land route, and is forced to fight all Diadochi (Who wish to kill him, because they think Alexander will return to Macedon to amass another army to reconquer his Empire) and their numerous agents to return to his final resting place in Aigai.

A breath-taking trilogy! ^_^

Is there any simple way to activate that mission again, so that I could do the modification for just my own game?
