    Default Tim Russert dies

One of the best newscasters left in television has departed us.

    http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/06/13/tim.russert/index.html

Definitely a sad thing. This guy was always well-respected and intelligent, and I know I'll miss his coverage as the election draws nearer. Maybe it's a sign that we're truly going to be subject to 5 months of hell.

Are you kidding, I was giving him some love. This guy was the best at what he did.

RIP. I don't quite agree with DD's evaluation of him.

He seemed like a pretty fair guy. at least he just got back from italy with his family and this didn't happen before they left. Day before father's day too; if little Luke hasn't read it, I'm sure that is what he'll be doing tomorrow.

Russert was an equal opportunity nut cracker. He had a law backround and it showed in the way he conducted his show (loved the times he pressed cheney on the iraq/bin laden supposed links). We could use more journalists like him. I watched his show a lot its really a shame.
There are few things more annoying than some idiot who has never done anything trying to say definitively how something should be done.

Wow, I can't believe this happened. He would've have had maybe at least a decade left in the journalistic field had he not died today, RIP

I did not recognize the name at first, so obviously I did not see enough of his work. Still, he seemed intelligent and capable in his work and overall pleasant.

    RIP, Timmy.

His writings about Dads and Sons were heartfelt and often tear-inducing for this reader.

Poster's second thoughts and edited posts in this RIP thread are noted, and appreciated.

I think Tim Russert was what all political afficianados aspire to be, even us amateurs.

Intelligent, witty, committed to the pursuit of truth, funny, clever, tenacious and respected by peers on both sides of the aisle.

He, William Safire and Roger Schieffer were the only three guys left in political newscasting I trusted anymore, and I know he was a pretty commited "D". Sleep tight, see you on the other side big guy.

An excellent journalist, a loving family man, a man of deep faith. More of his ilk would do us all proud.
    Rest in Peace.

I always knew him to be a political leftie, but I always respected the effort he made to set that aside and analyze/push/question any and all comers. If more journalists adhered to Russert's standards, all of the political right's kvetching about the media would be utterly basis.
