Default Why is it every other Heroic Victory on the AI turn CTDs?

Just happened again. I say again, because it seems every other time I win a Heroic Victory on the AI turn, it crashes on trying to return to the campaign map. This time it did it on trying to load up the next battle after the win.

I'd just beaten an equal-sized Carthaginian force composed of their usual mix of heavy infantry, slingers and heavy cavalry with my African mercenary army composed of Garamantines, Maures, some slingers, one unit of Numidian cavalry and some Iberian scutarii. Kicked their butts, lost about 300 men and wiped them out. All because I killed their general early on in the battle.

Just skipped the battle with auto_win because I'm not doing that again. But it seems Heroic Victories on the AI turn are significantly more likely to trigger the unpredictable, non-replicable battle-related CTDs.

    Anyone else noticed that?

NB: I'm not blaming the EB team for this, I suspect it's more of CA's wonderfully lousy code.
It began on seven hills - an EB 1.1 Romani AAR with historical house-rules (now ceased)
Heirs to Lysimachos - an EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR with semi-historical houserules (now ceased)
    Philetairos' Gift - a second EB 1.1 Epeiros-as-Pergamon AAR

Well, I'd blame CA & your computer. CA for not making an intelligent enough AI so you're computer can actually be able to do any decent damage to you.
Your computer for being to jelous and not allowing you to get the satisfaction of beating it humiliatingly and have a sign (No, a stain) on the campaign, proudly declaring your just victory over your computer. <_<
    BLARGH!

Nope, playing KH with heroic victories after heroic victories, no CTD.

I think it's something to do with the Roman generals to be honest. This problem is rare with every other faction but them. Try a different general or if none are about, use a random captain, see if that helps.

No, not just any heroic victory, but those when attacked by the AI.

Indeed, I find all the post-battle CTDs happen when attacked by the AI, rarely on my own turn.

I haven't noticed heroic victories giving more CTDs than others (though obviously having your heroic victory deleted is more annoying than having your Average Defeat deleted). Also I've never played Romani. But I DO AGREE that battle-related CTDs primarly take place during the AIs turn. I never get CTDs on my own turn, but I'm always in danger of having them when I fight a battle during the AIs turn. And CTDs (non-battle-related) also often happen during AI turns, whereas I've never experienced one DURING my own turn.
Conclusion: for some reason the AI turns are far more prone to CTDs than the player's turn. When I play EB on my mother's computer (which isn't very good), I'm literally holding my breath every AI turn, because I fear a CTD, but I never do that on my own turn - so for some reason, the AI turn is more unstable than the player one.
Moreover, I advise that Syracusans must be added to EB (insp. by Cato the Elder )

Is looking forward to the 2090's, when EB 20.0 will be released - spanning the entire Eurasian continent and having no Eleutheroi - with a faction for every independent state instead. Look out for the Gedrosians, the Cretans and the kingdom of Kallatis!

Which is why I keep battles during the AI's turn to a minimum. For instance, I assault cities on the last turn before they surrender if I expect the AI to sally forth otherwise.

    It happens, but no consistently.

    Blame your computer if anything.

You can of course blame CA or bad fortune, but that won't get you anywhere.

God is unaware of its existence. It doesn't think, it just is.
