'Hannibal had been the victor at Cannae, and as if the Romans had good cause to boast that you have only strength enough for one blow, and that like a bee that has left its sting you are now inert and powerless.'
not sure if its safe, since i remember i guy who switched the skins and then the hoplites were invisible in the battlefield, though he probally did something wrong on the process, wait a bit and someone will answer ya with the instructions![]()

Bah, I suppose this thread belongs in EB mod forum. So please move this if you feel the need.
Anyhow, what is Classical Hoplite called in export_unit_description? And also in unit_texture file?

They're called "hellenistic infantry hoplitai".

Great! That's what I suspected.
Thank you,

Question on the Classical Hoplites, since they'll be the mainstay of my line in my new game, why don't they have swords as their secondary? Says they should on their description.
The Massilian hoplites have backup swords, and do most phalangites, so why not them?
Would it be a complicated business to give them swords? I'm presuming they need a skin with them holding a sword or something to do that?

It was something with their swords being bugged, or they being used as assault infantry, or something, something. Someone else will explain better.

I don't come here a lot any more. You know why? Because you suck. That's right, I'm talking to you. Your annoying attitude, bad grammar, illogical arguments, false beliefs and pathetic attempts at humour have driven me and many other nice people from this forum. You should feel ashamed. Report here at once to recieve your punishment. Scumbag.
I think I vaguely remember something like that. I hope someone has the more detailed explanation, because it seems a real shame to reduce their versatility like that.

units that use the overhand spear animation cannot properly use a secondary weapon. They'll do things like charge with the sword then switch to the spear...

Bugger. Oh well, can't be helped.

I believe that when the hoplites have the sword as their secondary weapon, they get spread out too much.
This space intentionally left blank.
Units with two melee weapons always use their secondary weapon to charge. The Ai is not able to handle these correctly. The only units that make correct use of primary and secondary weapon are the phalangites.
A related issue seem to be units with prec missles always start an attack with this weapon, even when they are already in contact with the enemy (any enemy). So you see the AI spearmen on "reloading" while the front rows are already been cut down by your swordsmen. The same happens when the spearmen are already fighting with one of your units and you send a second one into the melee: the AI changes back to "reloading". Even more: when facing two or more enemy units at the same time the "reloading" seems to be endless, lasting until the unit is routed.
