Ode to old times

Let old wounds be forgot.
And new sunrises seen.
Lets remember what was.
And what might have been.

In tumultuous times we shed each others blood.
The vagaries of war fought out in lackluster mud.
For our fallen comrades we shall shed a tear.
But now old enemies we shall too hold dear.

Another day and another time.
Lets forgive those crimes of old, yet breath and polish old glories.
March out with your medals that were gained in your youth.
Now pinned to ancient chests that toil down the path.

Lets remember the best of each other, not our worst.
For today we come together and remember our lost.
And with the going down of the sun, lets enjoy our last breaths.
Not with curses of hatred, but with laughter and joy.

Laugh and enjoy these moments for the ones who cannot.
Forgive and forget those hatreds, let your heart be free.
Now come and enjoy the company of old comrades and yester-enemy.
Let us go forth and enjoy the twilight times.
