The Colonel was on his horse, hanging behind a nervous group of artillerymen when he was approached by the four Captain’s. The Colonel looked where the noise was, and clapped his hands and grinned in anticipation, looking as eager as a scientist with a new tool.
“Excellent!” he remarked loudly, “What have you brought?” he asked, surprised when Captain Julian The Apostate held out a hand, in which a tightly sealed scroll was.
“Our plan, sir. All four of us have agreed on it.” Said the Captain, and the other three nodded in agreement. The Colonel inspected it quickly.
“So you have considered distance, height and depth?” inquired the Colonel, still smiling at this gift of a plan.
“Everything but distance… we could not determine it accurately and certain sources were down.” Piped up Captain Seign Thelas, and the Colonel went slightly red.
“No matter! Let us continue with this plan! Dismissed, Captain’s, and follow out these orders. ” Commanded the Colonel, dismissing them by dismounting and inspecting the ready cannons.
"Oh!" he said, tempoairly calling them back, "I forgot to tell you! The 41st may have faulty guns so their range is undeterminable, so the knowledge of range and distance is useless for this battle!"

The Regiment retreated into the defensive position provided by Captain Julian The Apostate, and only with slight confusion with 2nd Battalion. When they were all in place, they waited patiently while the 41st emerged from its cover, working while the Coldstreamers were.

From the observant binoculars of the Colonel and his officers (Mainly the Major and the Captain’s) they saw at least two battalion’s head direct east from the north east, where they disappeared from sight before a eager Lieutenant from 2nd Battalion spotted them from his observation spot in a tree.

He confirmed there was only one Company of Musketeers, and they were camping around the base of second large tree, though very alert. As he reported this to his Captain, the RSM saw a easy Company of soldiers break cover and march to the tree near them, where they waited, facing the Coldstreamers. No threatening move was made, and the only alarming thing to follow was the arrival, and then disappearance, of a troop of 41st soldiers on the far left field.

You can only see units which have revealed themselves, but it is the same for the enemy. From here, continue with plans around what the enemy has performed, at least until battle finally commences. I guess you could call this 'Deploying' Stage.

It seems like we would logically see any unit in the open which suggests that we might be able to take control of the Western fields. Does that seem like it'd be worth it? It might let us take their flank.

Our current deployment makes us very strong in the center, while the flanks can be a bit vulnerable. Personally I'd recommend doing reconnaisance to see what is out there on the flanks and maybe moving our other cavalry company to the right flank. It takes time to redeploy troops, so we should make sure we have time to respond to a possible attack on our flanks.

or we could redeply our troops so that we only hold the centre field and with strong forces guarding the hedges to our two sides?

Have the artillery pepper the woods while any musketeers hold the right flank and center of the formation.

One of my cavalry brigades should keep to back of the left flank, the other should hold position behind our main body and be at the ready.

I suggest that the Hussars reconnaisance on the left flank and center, while the Cuirassiers move to the center as a reserve. Additionally can our cannons on the right fire from the woods they are stationed in currently? I'd say the trees might hamper any attempts to fire with them.
