Another day in Whitehall, and the Colonel was wearily reminded of his last visit to the War office. Thankfully, this time, he actually did have those Captain's. They weren't just recruited either, he had pulled them from other Regiment's, so they had experince. He gulped as he neared the brigadier's office, and then knocked.
"Come in." called the tone again, and he opened the door more carefully this time, to see the brigadier waiting there, staring at him.
"Sir." saluted the Colonel, raising a honorary hand.
"Colonel, you better have those Captain's." growled the Brigadier, a threatening look about him.
"Yes sir, we got them yesterday, sir. They have experince..." he offered meekly.
"Good, Colonel, very good. We need to make sure though." he said.
"Make sure, sir?"
"We need to make sure that they're experinced. We don't want to see the Guards along to some foreign country only to have some crackpot send him straight to the Frogs guns." said the Brigadier lightly, writing furiously again.
"I assure you sir, I don't expect they're crackpots."
"Never know; hard to tell in this Army. Send them, and the Battalions, along to one of those farms further south, near Portsmouth. Pitch them against each other or another Regiment." demanded the Brigadier, giving the Colonel written orders.
"Dismissed, Colonel." he said airily, the Colonel saluted and walked away, glad he wasn't being verbally attacked.
North of Southampton, Hampshire, England
"Good day gentlemen." greeted the Colonel as the four Captain's walked in, "Good for you to come." He paused the continued,
"The Brigadier is not satisfied with your assurances of experince... he believes you will, ah, stuff up. So here we are today, and we will be training with the whole Regiment, the Battalion's are already set up in good, defensive positions. We shall be fighting the 41st Regiment. We shall be learning the goods, and bads, of war. Follow." he commanded, "The 41st is a famous Regiment, Captain's. They're Welsh, and fight like the Devil's minions. They're Colonel and Captain's are very, very good. You stuff up, and the Brigadier might kill you." he joked.
They came to a field.
"Now, observe this field, and then go to your Battalion's. Once you have your orders ready, send them to me by horse courier? I shall then certify it and the Battalion's move, attack or defend. Whatever you have in mind. Easy, eh? Any quesions just send them to me."
1st Battalion: Yellow
2nd Battalion:Orange
3rd Battalion:Blue
4th battalion
From this map see where you want your units placed, only your Battalion, and then send me a PM with details of where. As there is a lack of numbers which coordanate where you place them, detail your PM's so I can know exactly what is happening, and draw a summary from these. Don't let the 41st beat you! Who knows what the Brigadier will say...
You obviously can't see the 41st, but they can't see you,as neither of you have made first moves. You will be able to see them next turn though, so no sweat, and then you can do whatever. This part is for you to organise your Battalion's into defensive positions.
I heavily suggest you all coordanate your attacks here in this thread, as if you stuff up, say the Artillery fires at that first tree, but 4th Battalion is resting there, you're all in a bit of trouble. Or if two battalion's accidently run into each other, or Companies, then you'll slow down, turn intoa rabble and be sitting ducks for the enemy.
So here's my first tip as Colonel: Coordanaite your attacks and defenses!!
