Yes, EB takes a LOT more resources than Vanilla.

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

I do NOT answer PM requests for help with EB. Ask in a new help thread in the tech help forum.

Ok, I suppose I'll wait until I fix my desktop to download EB. Shame, I really want to play

More important than CPU, you'll need lots of RAM. 2 GB is recommended.

Well I have 2 Gigs of RAM and a Dual Core @ 1.73, but my video card is horrible. I'm surprised it runs Vanilla the way it does, but I'm thinking mods usually incorporate more complicated/hi-res skins that tax the video card more, which is the main reason I think it would lag it. Though I may still download it just to give it a shot.

Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family, sucks horrible. But I'm still going to try it for those long airplane trips I'm on all the time. Just finished downloading, I'll update with how it runs.

    Thanks for the info, too!

And I only have 512 Still, runs smoothly on low details and large unit size. Who needs dust and shadows when there's killin' to be done !?!

I can run EB fine on a Laptop with all but unit detail and size on low/lowest. In medium - small battles it's fine on higher settings too. I don't know my specs though.

I have only 512MB and my battles run smoothly with everything set on medium or high.
It is the campaign map that takes up the most RAM. It can lag seriously on my old pc.

Click a unit inside a settlement, move it outside, campaign "lag" should be fixed (temporarily at least).
I would be very surprised if your campaign map was actually running slower (in terms of fps etc) than the battle map, I myself get periodic stuttering on my beasty pc on the campaign map but that always sorts it out.
    Cheers
