    Default Suitable suitors...

When a potential suitor is presented for an eligible daughter, is the quality of this suitor completely random, or is it affected by the daughter's "status".

For example, would the first-born daughter of a FL with excellent influence/management/command get a better kind of guy sniffing around her door than the youngest daughter of a seventh son of a seventh son of someone with a cognonem of "the cripple" who has a the trait "severe halitosis"?

That is a very good guestion actually!

However, my observation so far seem to point to the complete randomness.

    Completely random.

It is probably just chance and superstition, but to me it seems if you keep turning down someone with a certain trait, they show up less often. However, since I can't think of any programming reason for this, it is probably just in my head.

And what about age? In my current Ptolemy campaign I seem to be getting lots of old guys (45+) turning up, while in a recent Getai campaign they were mostly in their 20s and 30s.

I thought that maybe some more "advanced" cultures (Roman, Hellenistic) would require a "new man" to prove himself as a leader of men, competent administrator etc before being considered for marriage. Conversely, an a "barbarian" culture, it might be more personal attributes like courage in battle that make a man worthy.

Is age of suitor dependant on culture?

For adoptions, age seems relatively tied to the age of the woman, but not always so. For MotH events, captains have age and the guy will be whatever the age of the promoted captain is.

If you have a female in her thirties, you will get men in their 30's 40's and 50's. Keep an eye on your family tree though, as you don't want to accidentally marry off your 14 year to a 55 year old, but you might want to marry that 45 year old off to the same. As for the traits, I think that they are just randomly generated, and depending upon how desperate you are you might wait for the right guy, or just settle for someone who you can get a thirty year career out of...
