Default Arghh... bad end to vacation, need stuff now

Okay, so I just got back from vacation, and lo and behold, true to my form, I lost something rather important to my laptop- the power cord. I also had my mouse get screwed up in an unrelated incident as well, but I'm not worried about that. Anyways, so my rather nice, new laptop is now currently rather unusable due to the issue of not being able to get any power. Anybody got a place where I can get a new power cord pretty cheap?

What make and model is your laptop?

Edit - Also, can you remember where about you lost the power cord? Maybe give the hotel you stayed at a call? Car rental place? Just search around and maybe someone turned it in, you'd be surprised and save yourself some cash.

The laptop is a Gateway M-152XL.

As for finding it back... I've tried retracing what steps I can, but there's a very distinct possibility that its somewhere back in Pennsylvania. Where it could be in Pennsylvania? Well, frankly, your guess is as good as mine, and I've already checked the avenues I can retrace myself.

Well, I was kinda hoping someone might know of a place where I could get it relatively cheap without having to order it online, so I wouldn't have to pay shipping and handling. I'd already planned on going there as a backup in case.

Without having to order online? I doubt anyone here could help you unless they are locally to you, because you'd need to call around to local stores. The odds of you finding such a thing these days is pretty slim to none, but you could still try. Also, in regards to laptop batteries and powerpacks, I would NOT recommend buying off-brand non-OEM junk, I'd only go with original manufacturer stuff. Thus, it would seem you're probably stuck with buying something from Gateway directly. You could always see if you have a local Craigslist, or even eBay, but that's your call. Good luck either way.

Laptop power packs are notoriously expensive to replace, good luck with that.

    How could that possibly be?

How could a manufacturer justify that? It's a power source. It's pretty garden variety.

    Welcome to owning a laptop.

Expect to pay in the order of 60-100$ for a new laptop adapter. Again I do NOT recommend getting any 3rd party knockoffs, those are a great way to ruin your laptop instead of saving a few bucks.

Laptops are still considered as a measure of luxury: You are able/willing to pay more for mobility.

So it's no wonder why laptop gadgets are more expensive.
