Default Gaming in the battle map

    Hey there,
I'm curious to hear from the more dedicated gamers in this forum what techniques, equipment and setup they use to fight the actual battles.
At 40 years old I'm guessing I'm probably older than a few you. I also don't have time to game like I used to, but I still like immersing myself in the EB world when I can. So to play better I'm trying to figure out how to best maximize control of the battle map and control of my forces. I started by picking up some gaming gear (Razer Deathadder mouse, Razer Lycosa keyboard and a Belkin Nostromo Speedpad2 gaming controller). Now I have a world of reprogrammable options I'm curious to hear if anybody else has gone this route to maximize their game.
So if you have a set-up that works for you I'd like to hear about it.
That's all. Thanks for teaching me a great deal as I lurked about for the past few months on the forum unregistered...

Thumbs up Re: Gaming in the battle map

I use the standard mouse and keyboard that came with the package I bought a year back. It works fine for me...

I don't think you need ALL that equipment just to play this game. That equipment is great for online games, where a split second decision is required or else you might lose. With EB, you can press pause whenever you want to and take your time with your orders. If you like it tho, I'm sure it can only be a positive effect on your gaming.

Are you asking for help with like battle lines and general strategy in battle?

well you don't really need a killer system to play EB since well as since as he said, we can puase and do watever we want. You don't need anything fancy just because other people has it, get what suits you the best. Im a dedicated gamer which has a life outside of my "gaming world" cough...crysis,callofduty4,battlefieldserries,fuelsofwar...cough

I use what best suits me, a plain old logitek comfort keyboard (comfortable xD)
a microsoft comfort mouse.. (hey i play a lot of games, cant play if hands hurt lol)

    intel quad core qx9650... oc @ 4.3ghz...
    ddr3-1333mhz corsair terminator ram....
    quad sli geforce 9800gx2...
nforce 810sli enabled mobo ft inel quad core
average of 146 fps with everything on high in battle mode of at least 5000-6000- sometimes above 8000 but they wait on edge of field

Man i think i totally overkilled and im feeling like im just bragging about my system
    im sorry guys
ill just play this on my old old emachines to feel like you and lag!
    :D

    conclusion
get whats comfortable/affordable but good quality and your all good

4.3 GHZ in total? Or 4.3 per core? And how much RAM exactly? That's quite a system you got there, especially when you bought it for $4,975 dollars.

hax think ... when u overclock u overclocked all of it
its a combined 4.3ghz up from the stock OC of 3.0ghz
im not going farther since im using a stock cpu fan (nutin fancy...too poor atm lol)
the ram is 4x1gb in dual channel mode
i only got a windows vista 32 bitter
plus the freaken 9800gx2 has 1024mbgddr3 combined already so thats 2gb there
wait thats....6gb+ of memory... crap im more than double of what the 32bit windows can do!
must get a vista 64 bit....
o and hax, i know good contacts and i get most of the stuff straight from factory (no need for retail price when all the rretailers do is increase price by 10-30%, dam ddr3 memory cost $418)

you think that retailers price is high!! you should see the prices in MY country

take a look at this, the cheapest laptop here is around 1000 US DLS

my own "crappy" laptop has only

1 gig samsumg ram (had it changed it for 2)
T2050 Intel core duo at 1.6
only 128 of CRAPPY intel graphics memory!! I cant even play MTW at the lowest settings!! , and I cant replace it!! I'll have to change my whole computer!
    100 gigs of memory

and THAT costed me 1500 US DLS last year!

hell last time I went to the states I saw a sony lap which costed 1890 DLS when over here it costs around 3700!!

    Thanks for the feedback.
I guess I framed the question poorly my mentioning the gear. Altough I prefer the feel of the mouse and keyboard and the speedpad2 is convenient - I meant more along the lines of mapping keys to commands. But if nobody has really found re-mapping keys to frequently used commands helps them that could be feedback too.
I have just spent a great deal of time trying to figure out which keys (actions) I want on my speedpad and mouse button.
Thanks again, and MANY thanks to the EB creators.

this is completely off topic but CJ, you picked the coolest org name ever.

sounds like it would be the name of a main character in a 70's blaxploitation movie.

    you get a balloon.

Do you hate Drug Cartels? Do You believe that the Drug War is basically a failure? Do you think that if we Legalized the Cannabis market, that use rates would drop, we could put age limits on cannabis, tax it, and other wise regulate it? Join The ORG Marijuana Policy Project!

In American politics, similar to British politics, we have a choice between being shot in our left testicle or the right testicle. Both parties advocate pissing on the little guys, only in different ways and to a different little guy.

Well I guess you could make use of it on the stratmap with its horrid console (the responsiveness of that thing is just awful), plus its limited set of codes you can enter. There are AFAIK codes for the battle map version of that console around as well, but I've never used any of those.
