    Default sound problems

I have been having a problem lately: after having successfully tested a voicemod i made for Chiv: total war (I work for the team nowadays), I decided I needed to raise the voice. after getting a better microphone, I managed to make the sounds as lud as RTW sounds are.

but now there is a problem; even though both the prototype, and the final version have the same properties (the right type of .wav), the latter is not working in the game like the former is. this has been going on all day, and i can't find the problem.
so I come here, not asking for a solution per se, but asking this: what programs do you use to make voicemods' .wav files? just wondering-I go to accessories=> entertainment=> sound recorder ( I don't know any better). I s there better?

I use the "Audacity" software (free) - make sure you record and save it with the right properties (i.e. same as properties of vanilla sound files). It'll do mp3 (with a codec) and wav.
