Speaking of impact mass, what unit got the highest value for that?

Im guessing elephants, chariots then maybe cataphracts?

Chariots? No way, not in my EB world lol. If i use chariots, they get churned up as soon as they hit the enemy lines. They barely go into the ranks at all...Elephants will obviously have the greatest mass (unless the world is completely weird) and heavy cavalry will follow soon after. The mass should be determined by the combined weight of the entire unit; that is, the person, any animal they ride, and the amount of armour and the weapon they carry.

Dunno about Kill rate, we need a long time veteren to answer that lol...hint hint

kill rate depends on thte unit type: Hetairoi can kill 10 units in 1 second, if you hit the enemy in the backside. Kataphraktoi are even better. but the kill rate dpends on a crap load of other factors: leevl of exhaustion, experiance, level of weponry, and the effective defence of the enemy.

actually I think cavalry has a pretty low mass , but a high charge bonus

don't you remember a guy complaining that cavalry had not enough mass ?

mass value determines which unit "pushes" more , that means if you have 2 units with the same stats except mass , the one with the higher mass is going to "Push" back the other unit

and as far as kill rates , I think its the chance of killing an enemy with every hit...

hope I'm not wrong but I'm pretty sure that's how it works

Also worth mentioning that the charge bonus is a big factor in this (since lances in melee are rubbish, and the AI is often too stupid to switch weapons), and to get the charge bonus you have to do some from the right distance. Too close and it doesn't work.

Chariots are not supposed to go into enemy lines, they are meant to go through them...

Chariots were "battle taxis" the ancient equivalent of APCs.
