Default a little suggestion concerning MICs and XP boni

Since it is so hard to train up units to decent experience levels, i wonder if it would make sense to give the highest MIC levels of all factions a +1 or +2 XP level bonus?

Especially the romanii would profit from this a lot and it also would make sense. after all, huge military training compunds would give the new soldier not only the possibly best training possibilities but also the best and most veteran instructors and drill masters, which would share their experience with the fresh recruits. so for me something seems lacking if these centers of the military world don´t give the recruits some basic experience, which would then be augmented by the different religious buildings.

for barbarian factions the greatest heroes of that faction might visit these military training centers to do a little sparring or so and show off their unmatched skills.

this would soften the hardships of building up veteran units a little, if you would be able to churn them out at 3 to 5 levels. of course, that also needs the proper investments prior to it, so it´s not really unbalancing.

    what do you think?

Also i would like to see a second level blacksmith (master smith) for factions like the Gauls and Romanii.
After all the gauls were known for the unmatched quality of their metalworks, as well as the roman armies were for the high standard of their equipment. this should allow the Gauls and Romanii to give their troops silver weapons and armor (+2) .

maybe restrict these buildings to the factions core cities or even capitals, maybe bind them to the existence of iron mines in the region?

Very bad idea. The bonuses from xps are dangerous to say the least to balancing stats. Their boosts make a mockery of the hard work that went into our statting system and I think if we could we would severely reduce their bonuses or even remove them altogether. I don't think there is any chance for us to add them in as a building bonus.

Besides, work on EBI has largely halted, with only ancillary areas of the mod being worked upon (voicemods, bug fixing etc). You can add them in yourself into your own game with ease.

The only real reason to build up MIC's is for elites. When you train a levy pike phalanx from a lvl 5 MIC, it's still going to be just a levy unit so it won't be getting that much more training then if you train it from a lvl 1 MIC. Elite units already have the said training included in their meele defense stat, so there really isn't a need to give a boost from MICs.

I know this is the stance of the team, but I've always wondered why the gymnasion, celtic game fields, some temples, etc. have got exactly that?

Wouldn`t altering preferences.txt fix the problem of overinfalted experience? I too am concerned with what silver or gold chevroned units do to balance. Especially archers - they can get +9 to their missile attack from experience, while all units can have at most +1 armour to protect them against stuff flying in the air.

Disabling that will just stop units from going shiny when they get new chevrons.

It is slightly annoying that, say for the Romani, training Princepes or Triarii who have no battle experience, as these were meant to be the mor eexperienced soldiers of the republic. What we need is a new system from CA, where maybe you can upgrade units of say, Hastati, once they get a certain level of experience, to Principes, and so on for Triarii. I know this cant happen lol, and it would create problems of its own. Tis just slighlty annoying. I'm no good at modding whatsoever, so is there a way you can make a certain unit be trained with extra exp, without bonus such as temples etc, or is this the original question lol?

Um, their experience is part of their stats. Our stat system, for example, rates each unit by their experience level (rookie, to elite, I beleive), this plays a part in base attack and defense stats and also morale. We really don't do things in halves.
