I always thought that not chewing with one's mouth open was something that people learned to do in childhood. But now, I've been running into more and more college students who have not rid themselves of this disgusting habit. It's not even that you can see the food in their mouths, because frankly, most of the time you can't; it's the horrid noise they make while doing it. It sounds like slow-motion masturbation, and it's loud; I don't think they realize how loud they're being.
I just had to vent... I ran into someone doing it in the communal kitchen, and it was making me wince just having to listen to it.

I've always worried that when I chew something, other people can hear me. When I hear other people do it, drives me bonkers!

Yup, it's quite a disgusting habit.
But what if it's seafood?

It's okay if it's seafood... what pisses me off is hearfood.

If I'm eating toast or something crunchy I always end up getting really conscious of the noise I am making. So then I start to eat in slow motion and that makes it worse.
But I never eat with my mouth open.
