Thread: EB for BI: Should KH Generals have shield wall or rally?

I have a quick poll question for a feature that I have in EB for BI. Currently all hoplite units in my installer have the shield wall attribute. This includes the general unit for Koinon Hellenon. However, since units cannot have more than one special ability, this means the KH generals have shield wall instead of rally. Which special ability would you rather see on the KH general?

I prefer shield wall myself, I kinda regard rally as a bit pointless.

    Does shield_wall superce rally?
If not, they can have them both and still form the wall when other units are present.

I didn't think it would, but people who've tested the mod say that shield_wall automatically replaces rally.

I remember that if a general is phalanx only, you can't take him out of phalanx if he has the rally option, unless you have another phalanx capable unit selected at the same time.

Honestly I'd go a highly decorated Xystophoroi unit, but...ok...hoplite...Rally.

Putting them on guard mode is practically a shield wall anyway tbh...i dont think making it a formation would change anything

In BI, the shield wall decreases the speed and increases the defence of the unit going into the formation, and probably other things too. This is something guard mode doesn't do.

To simulate, you'll have to give them a VERY close formation, and increase their shield values by 6.

Also reduce their stamina rating by 1. increase their morale by 3, and lower their defensive skill by 2.
