Here's a pitch for the next Total war game: Since most people welcome the use of guns but would like to keep melee combat, here's an idea for you all... Post Nuclear: Total War.

it would take place somewhere between the past (60's) or near future, after the world had been devestated by nuclear weapons. The map would be composed of the newly formed factions similar to what is seen in Fallout or Shadowrun Universes, where countries have been sundered and reformed in the following choas. The map would be of the entire world.

Since most of civilization and technology would be destroyed, people would be forced to conquer and fight with either scavenged range weapons, or good old medieval style melee type weapons. Some workable combat vehicles could be thrown into the mix. Obviously this would require many new tactics and probably a new engine, but the mix between new and old strategy could be interesting.

Diplomacy between the newly emerged states would be important, and only by working together can allies reconstruct lost technology and techniques. The peoples of the world would either cling to modern ways or revert to tribalism or barbaric modes of life, influencing their units and strategies.

I'm sure the possiblities for such a game are endless, and the mechanics complex, but instead of me throwing more half baked ideas out, I'd love to know what other people think. The concept behind this appeals quite a bit to me!

Sorry if this should be in OT..

no more "pitches" for next game threads.
post your ideas in the OT or in pre-existing "next game should be..." threads that may be still open here
