Thread: EB playable on the ASUS eee?

  1. #1

Default EB playable on the ASUS eee?

Just puttting my head in the clouds here, but is how able would the latest version of the the eee (1000H) cope with the wonder of EB?
Looking at what it's got, it seems possible:

    1.6GHz Atom Processor
    2GB Memory

    So is it reasonably possible?

Please say no, because I may otherwise become hopelessly addicted...

Video card is the first problem that comes to mind.

EEE? Those are linux boxes, right? Perhaps there's some VM out there that would let you play RTW from within the Linux enviroment; or else you just need to set up a multi boot system. In that case, be forewarned that Win- OSes tend to be less-than-polite towards others: so install the Windows stuff first and then install Linux for the "real" work.

EDIT: Video, yes that might be troublesome. Also: 800*480, I don't know if RTW will accept lower than 800*600...

I dont think you would get any playable performance on virtual machine.
Dual boot is the way to go.

These are the specs. I don't know what the integrated graphics card would do to EB, but it sounds reasonable. The res. is 100X600 or something, so that would indeed help. However, graphics wise and units size it would be marginal of marginal, at the best case scenario.

Maybe someone has taken the plunge and installed EB on that machine. If so, please let us know. I too have oggled one. The idea of doing some work on a cafe/or a commute without lugging about 4 Kgs of PC is absolutely great!

You like EB? Buy CA games.

No, this one is XP, and it has 1024x760- I think. It has 1024 in it anyway. I'll be getting one anyway hopefully, so I'll try it out.
