Thread: Persistent CTD when loading custom battle

Default Persistent CTD when loading custom battle

I was playing Rome Vs Ptolemies in custom battle, but when I actually click to play the game it shows the loading screen and loads a tiny bit before crashing. Any help?

    where you modding something?

well try this either way , open your ebconfig.xml file located in your RTW folder

    search for ".exe"
and add this at the end "-show_err" so it looks like this

    <Text>RomeTW.exe -mod:eb -show_err</Text>

that should tell you what's causing the crash

Have you installed the permanent fixes for 1.1? You can find them in the stickied post in this forum. Pre-battle ctds (ie those on a loadup) are generally caused by missing sprites, which the release version of EB 1.1 had. One of the fixes does fix this problem.

Yes I have downloaded the fixes; they do not work (and yes I installed them correctly). I tried another custom battle and every one has worked fine except for the one I described. However, now a new problem has emerged: I tried to load my previously saved Pahlava campaign, and it shows my cities and the map for a few seconds, then CTD. And it too is persistent.

Which units are you using in said battle? Please run a validation too.

lz3, tell me again how to do the show_err thing? I tried following your instructions but it was weird because I didn't know where to look.

Please say which part of the instructions were unclear. Also please do what I asked.

in your Rome - Total war folder , located in your Activision /creative assembly folder there's a file named "ebconfig" , right click on it and select open with [your favorite text editor] , then search for ".exe" , that should send you to a line saying

    <Text>RomeTW.exe -mod:eb</Text>

so add -show_err at the end, so it looks like this

    <Text>RomeTW.exe -mod:eb -show_err</Text>

that should tell you what's causign the crash... as far as the campaign goes... I don't know hehe , you should do a validation as bovi says
