    Default Alexander:TotalWar - Playing Persian

Sorry if this has been asked before but, having beaten the Alexander Campaign on my second try I am now keen to play Persia and try to stop him. I sort of assumed that Persia would be unlocked once I'd won as Alexander but apparently that isn't the case. So, if anyone knows how to make the other factions playable I'd be grateful.

I believe Alexander is a little like R:TW itself with a "descr_strat.txt" file, although somehow I'm sure I've heard rumours of a serious game-breaking bug when playing with factions other than Macedon. Somehow sketchy memories dictate that when Alexander died, the game was over regardless of the faction. This may not be correct though.

There are mods that allow you to play as all factions though. Barbarossa82's "Alexander Reborn" is a key example of such a modification.

Thanks I'll give the mod a try.

HaHa! worked a treat. First battle of my Defence of Persia Campaign and Memnon of Rhodes with an army of 3,077 met Alexander himself with 3,929 Macedonians at the river Maeander. Memnon lost the battle and 2,749 Persians perished, however it was a narrow defeat the Macedonian's lost 2,107 men and Alxendar himself was killed in one of the opening charges.

The Macedonian Empire is no more reduced to just a bunch of squabbling Greeks in the first turn of the campaign.
