Thread: Persistent CTD

    Default Persistent CTD

My 1.1 Romani campaign has taken a dramatic turn for the worse. Its roughly 211BC and for the last half a dozen or so turns its become so unstable as to be unplayable.

Let me explain. I can predict, with a 100% garuntee, that my game will crash when loading the battle map. It does not matter whether I am attacking or defending, whether it is in a city or in the field, or if either army is small, large, does or does not have reinforcements: the game will crash. I'm forced to fire up EB again, reload my saved game (yes, I save manually at the end of every turn), and continue from there. The battle then usually loads successfully - it then plays with no problems and the campaign map then loads perfectly fine. However, as soon as another battle begins...it crashes once more.

At the moment, this varies from midly infuriating (if I'm in a long period of peace or engaged in limited warfare), to unbeleivably frustrating (if I'm properly at war) and possibly even unplayable (what if I'm attacked by one AI more than once in their turn, or by more than one AI in the same turn - with no oppertunity to save after each battle, I'd be stuck and/or forced to keep crashing and reloading in the hope that evantually I'll only be attacked once).

I'm running version 1.1, with all the fixes applied that related to CTDs that were available a couple of months ago. I also have Force Diplomacy mod (used a handful of times). Right now I'm downloading the sprites fix and applying that and praying it miraculously fixes the problem.

I'm guessing this is the issue at hand, because the persistent crashing has only begun in the last few years, which coincides perfectly with the outbreak of war with Lusotanna. Since then I have only been at war with them, and have not even fought any rebels (if there were any about near me, I would test attacking them). Before then, I was getting only the odd crash every now and again (usually every 10-20 turns or so) - nothing on this scale. But if it is the sprites, why is the battle map loading at all after I've crashed and reloaded my game? Shouldn't it continue to crash anyway?

Can anybody else think of anything that might be the cause for this? Its really getting problematic, and I'm enjoying my campaign so much that I'd really like to keep it.

    Thanks.

The sprites fix will correct your problem .

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.
