Problem with move_character?

Hello, I'm fairly new to the mysterious world of the console, and I'm having problems with the move_character command. I input the correct name and co-ordinates, but nothing happens. No error comes up, but my character (in this case a diplomat) just doesn't move. what am I doing wrong, if anything?

You are typing the commands into the console aren't you? What exactly are you typing in there?

Most likely you have two characters with the same name and you are moving the one you don't want to. If the character you moved happened to be in a city before you moved him, he may cause a bug when moved out of the city...
