Some-spear-wielding Belgian: Since we lived south of the rhine, there is a great chance that when the Romans invaded, my family here was drafted into service to wipe out these invaders.

Fights with freaking axes, got javelins, cool helmets, equally cool shields and armour, bigasss greaves. Both their axes and greaves are modified to be used as climbing tools as well as weapons, they are famed for their acrobatic skills, and have a rather advanced martial arts training, as well as being famous javelineers, and fanatic soldiers who often lose themselves in a battle frenzy. How much freaking cooler can you get? These guys are like Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris in one unit, armed with axes and able to scale sheer surfaces. Freaking awesome, no wonder Alexander conquered the world with these badasses at his command.

I'd want to be the Greek medium cavalry, the Hippeis. I'd probably be well off if not slightly rich, wouldn't get used in any major heavy combat, probably paid well, and can run away real fast if it all starts to hit the fan, as it were.

Ideally, either a cataphract of some sort, armored to the teeth and impervious to the blows I receive while smashing, rending and slaughtering my enemies in droves.

or

At the opposite end, some sort of well armed mounted archer with a VERY fast horse, able to shoot down enemies from a safe distance and run the hell away before being caught!

Also a great likelyhood that I'd inadvertently end up some sort of Gaesatae as well-looking on my younger days, when faced with physical confrontation, I had a scary tendency to really just go berzerk, sort of see red, and become 100% aggressive without a thought for my own well being left- really weird, I was a skinny little 145lb guy at the time and actually scared off several guys much bigger/stronger than myself, that could have easily twisted me into a pretzel. Fear does strange things to me sometimes.
