I think I would join the Ptolemy/Seleucid navy, not as a rower of course, that would suck...

i wouldnt want to have been a spartan... too hard of a life... plus i dont think greek culture and I would mix well haha... Celtic warriors were renowned for bravery (if foolhardy) so im fine with that :D

Probably just your average horse archer in a nomadic army, you get to run around a shoot at peeps, anyone comes close to you, just run off. Sounds cowardly, but hey, it had a good victory record.

I would definitely be in a Galatikoi Tindanotae band or maybe one of the less psychotic celtic or galatian unit's. On second thought I would either be in Galatikoi Lavotuxri (Galatian Heavy Cavalry) or the Galatikoi Kuarothoroi (Galatian Heavy Spearmen)

I'd be a Kretan Archer. A mercenary and also a well trained archer, I could typically avoid direct combat, while making good money. If things got too hairy I could always escape and then sell my services to the victor, as well.

RTW, 167 BC: Rome expels Greek philosophers after the Lex Fannia law is passed. This bans the effete and nasty Greek practice of 'philosophy' in favour of more manly, properly Roman pursuits that don't involve quite so much thinking.

You are important enough that they care for your supply. You get paid comparatively well (I think), you are kept out of danger most of the time and if danger arises, you are prepared. Oh, and most importantly, there is no danger to fall off a horse.
