Thread: Lost Nobility

    Default Lost Nobility

In the nations whose monarchies have been deposed, are there any sort of movements or political parties looking to propel their (the former noble families') interests?

I've been looking at the Polish Nobility Association (Foundation) - anyone have any info on them?

They have very very little support - practically no influences.
In Poland there were no real dynasties since XVII century - kings
were ellected but not dynasties. Sometimes son of former king was
elected but it was just another election, not heritage.
John Thomas Gross - liar who want put on Poles responsibility for impassivity of American Jews during holocaust

In Greece we kicked them out and pretty much everyone is happy about it, save from a few and most of them over 60 years old.

Bulgaria has no aristocracy since XIV centruty when it emigrated or it was either slaughtered, or converted to the Muslim religion (and assimilated). When Bulgaria was restored in 1878, we had to "import" princes from Western Europe. Bulgaria had two dynasties since 1878: first from 1879-1886 came from Hessen-Darmstadt house with their Prince Alexander I (1879-1886). He abdicated because of his conflict with the pro-Russian officers. He died few years later childless and young. After his death his body was returned and put in Mausoleum in Sofia that can be seen today.

Second from 1887 (1886-1887 we had no Prince but Council of regents)- 1947 Saxe-Coburg-Gotta dynasty. This dynasty was elected and it had to counterbalance the attempts of the Russians to put their puppet on our throne. Fortunately, the Russians were unsuccessful.

Ferdinand I (1887-1918; died in 1948; skilful and uscrupulous also referred as Ferdinand the Fox, he puppeteered the Bulgarian Parliament ; whilst the beginning of his reign was promising , it ended in catastrophy: two lost wars (1913 and 1915-1918); after the first world war he abdicated but managed to keep the dynasty)

Boris III , son of F. (1918-1943; more careful than his father and more successful; he could not decline the German offer during the Second World war because of the large Germanarmy on Danube and the wish for restoring the lost Bulgarian lands; He contributed (along with other factors) to the fact that Bulgarian army never left to fight in the Eastern front against Soviet Russia. In 1940 Bulgaria received from Romania Sothern Dobrugaea (fertile land famous with its grain; ) and althoguh Bulgaria lost the war, it managed to keep this territory and de facto grow bigger after the WWII (though it lost the war!); however B.III was helpless to break the alliance between Bulgaria and Germany; he died in 1943 )

Simeon II, son of B.III (1943-1947; Prime Minister opf Bulgaria between 2001-2005; his party still participates in the ruling coalition, though as a second power) he was minor at the time he came to power (6 year-old). In 1947 the Monarchy was abolished . In 2001 S.II won the elctions and became Prime-Minister.) However, restoration of the monarchy is unlikely.

The paragraph about S.II answers your question fro Bulgaria, Sobieski
