Hi all.
This isn't really that EB-related but I thought here would be a good place to ask.
I'm planning on getting a tattoo in the next few months to symbolise my love for music as well as my love for ancient and classical history (a by-product of playing EB since 0.7). So, naturally, I want to get an Apollo tattoo. I want him to be unmistakably Apollo, but all the paintings/statues of him depict the god with not many clothes on and I'm worried, as a straight man, that it might look a little gay to have a naked man perminantly marked on my flesh. Would it be un-Apollo-like for him to be dressed in a way which is a little less effeminate?
I was thinking of giving him a beautiful hoplite's helmet and maybe even a linen cuirass, but he would still be holding a lyre and would have the sun as his background and I possibly even give him a bow and quiver. So would that be a complete bastardisation of the deity?
Another thing I was thinking about was whether I could get something written in ancient Greek underneath it, maybe something to do with music or art in general as I am an avid musician.
EDIT: I also think that this conventional representation of Apollo misses the point of my historical interests which, being EB-influenced, are primarily military.
