Did you check for rebellious cities? The easiest way to get past this is probably to step back a couple of turns to an earlier save.

could you elaborate a little? like i said, ive determined exactly where the ctd happens. if somehow rebellious cities are involved, could you please explain.
u can check out my save file if u want
edit: and unfortunately, i only have one save file, and the autosave. both are saved on teh same turn :(. so no, i cant go back and reload.
double edit: i know what u mean by reloading to previous turns. i just assumed that the reason that works is that u dont repeat the exact same actions again, forcing the game to react differently, and causing the ai to follow a different series of events, bypassing the glitch altogether (since it doesnt do what it would have done to screw the game up in the first place). it gets by the problem, but it doesnt solve it.

Oh yes, it doesn't solve the problem, but it is a workaround and doesn't require me or anyone else to spend (more!) months hunting the problem. I see that the most usual causes of crashes are
a) Rebellions
b) Cloned generals and/or bannerless armies and/or armies-within-armies
I have been searching for solutions for these too long and have given up on them. If you have determined exactly where the crash happens, you would probably have an idea where to fix it as well; if you have a silver bullet, I would very much like to hear it.
The way I understand it is, you've said the crash happens when:
As you can see here, there are several things happening in sequence.the crash happens when its getai's turn, they attack sauromatae (somewhere in modern romania, i dont know the region name), they win, the sauromatae army retreats, IT DISAPPEARS, the getai move, and it ctds.
* It's Getai's turn, okay.
* They attack and conclude this activity successfully.
* The sauromatae army retreats and conclude this activity successfully. Yes, it appears odd, but because the turn continues after instead of crashing I think it is not the problem. Possibly this is the point of crash.
* The Getai keep moving stuff. Possibly this is the point of crash.
* The Getai end their turn. Possibly this is the point of crash.
* The next faction start their turn. Possibly this is the point of crash.
* The next faction processes potential rebellions. Possibly this is the point of crash.
* The next faction processes their strategic options. Possibly this is the point of crash.
* Possibly the next faction decides not to move anything. You don't see any difference on the screen. Possibly this is the point of crash.
* The faction after that one start their turn. Possibly this is the point of crash.
Et cetera.
Now, as you have not kept your savegames (start doing this now!), you'll have to start a new campaign or try the workarounds you can find in the frequent issues sticky.

for future reference, how do i check for rebellious cities?
Double-click each city and check whether they have the pitchfork symbol.
