For the sake of historical accuracy, I feel the need to point out that few Byzantines would have thought a little whipping of an opponent and a collision in a race (the collision had nothing to do with the cheating, btw) were worthy of outrage. Chariot racing was a vicious sport and racers often died in collisions, while bribery and cheating were both pretty common as well. If you want to protest the Hippodrome result for political reasons, or because your character has a chivarlous stick up his butt, that makes plenty of sense, but try to remember that the events that occurred in that race probably wouldn't have struck most Byzantines as unusual.
In fact, I built a cheating system into the chariot racing rules from the very beginning, before any player even thought of trying to interact with the races in an IC manner. It simply didn't occur in the first two races because the dice rolls went against it.

While all true, the point I'd like to make is that the Supreme Ruler of the £%^ing largest Empire on the planet just used it as a decision maker...AND in public.
Cheat all you want, that's as normal as can be, but in this particular instance don't expect the man with the largest pipe hitting set of bollocks on the planet to take kindly at being shown up that way...just a little twist on SOP of the time in my view.![]()

I'm not one to judge what the Emperor decides to do and not to do when it comes to just about anything.
Hell, if he says it's a sack race in women's clothing, then hey, strap the fake breasts on and get jumping.
Take the piss, at your own risk. As an option, I think everything I mentioned as a plausible follow-up is typical and IC.

I'm well aware, I'm just trying to weasel my way out of having to write another chariot race. People need to be aware that if another race is run and if the avatars themselves personally compete, that there is a chance of death. Collisions have decent odds of occurring and a bad collision effect roll can result in the death of the charioteer. I will not change this system just because actual avatars are racing. The odds of death are low, but they still exist. If avatars insist on racing, then that will be a chance they will have to take.

Now we are talking TC. Let the boy's have a little more riding on the outcome. Nothing like a little potential death at the Hippodrome to sort out the men from the boys.
Personally I don't think OK should go anywhere near another race. I favour dragging the two by the ear into the Magnaura, hear them air their differences and then passing judgement with a particularly bad attitude about it.
But hey, I'm just cranky after getting nailed in a Steering group meeting by a bunch of lawyers...so I could be subconsciously looking for an argument.
