I'll give you all 24 hours; if nobody comes up with the answer by then, I'll give it to you.

There would be Panzers instead of Statues, because Panzers won't work without oil, you know.

Dude, DAMNIT! That's the answer!

Less than 1 hour and someone gets it!

Now for a better question - what if Rome had oil wells, oil refineries and the logistics to transport this oil where needed, as well as Panzer tanks?

Dude, it was a riddle. Don't think about it too much.
Edit: and the answer is, they would still have no ammunition.

They become very heavy taxis. Why? No ammunition.
EDIT: OR gladiatorial combat.

Now that would be fun...
Drag races at the Circuis Maximus!
Okay, anyhow, topic's over. I was really hoping to give it time to develop, but dumb luck killed this goose before it could fly.

If future(past?) Italian mechanized efforts are to be our guide, I'd say they would have been poorly built and engineered boxes o' death.

I'm pretty certain that the traffic accidents caused by these oversized taxis would be pretty bad when facing opposing armies.

They could still run over people, I guess they could be like elephants that don't get scared. Also, you might be able to mount a ballista.
