Trouble recruiting certain units playing as Carthage

I started my first campaign of Europa Barbarorum yesterday as Carthage, right away In the capital I started building the next barracks upgrade. I waited paitently for the twelve turns to pass for me to recruit the better units that would come with the barracks upgrade. When it was finally built I found that I could not recruit Iberian Assault Infantry. Whats up with this, do these troops not become availible till a later date?

Ok I checked the link you gave, and I still did not find an answer. Unless Iberian assault infantry do not come until the reform carthage has. Also where would a a topic like this go next time.

I'm pretty sure you have to wait for the reforms for that unit as they weren't used until the second punic war. You should be able to recruit them in Carthage, Sardin, and Sicily with a level 3 MIC (though I think you have to upgrade your MIC in order to get new units after the reforms take place, so that may require the destruction and rebuilding of your current barracks if you can't go higher, maybe someone else knows more).

WELCOME TO EB!!!!! Glad to have you on board, buddy! Sorry for the rather boring welcome, but some people forget to drink their sugar-rich coffee every now and then. Anyways, I did a quick search of the forums and found this:

OK, nearly six months since I have played eb (before the reforms existed, infact), but logicaly before the reforms you will be able to recruit:

Poeni citizen millitia (levy hoplites)
Liby-Phonecian infantry (hoplites wearing traditonal gear, linothorax and greaves))
Poeni citizen cavalry (Medium cavalry wearing greaves and linothorax, armed with a xyston)
Sacred Band infantry (heavy hoplites wearing muscled cuirass)
Sacred band cavalry (Heavy cavalry wearing full heavy cav panalopy, horse has a linnen sheet covering chest)

After the reforms:
Liby-Phonecian heavy infantry (heavy hoplites wearing roman style chain mail plus greaves)
Elite Afriacn infanrty (heavy shock infantry, equipped wth a pelta like shield and a ap sword. Wearing roman chaimail plus greaves)
Elite African pikemen (amoured as above, but uses the iliyrian buckler and a pike, obviously )
Iberian assualt infantry (like the samnite sowrds men, wearing greaves and a muscled cuirass, has an aspis and a ap falacta)

They also get libyan normal infantry before and libyan heavies after it.

You don't need to update the buildings for the Qarthadashtim reforms

Anyways, so that should sum it all up. I hope I organized it well enough for you. Anyways, I hope EB brings you joy and possible salvation for decades to come. Here, have a balloon on me:

The reform is for when they equipped units with chain mail and AFAIK the pikemen wear Linothorax.
