Default Scottish nationalists take up arms in Pakistan

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/...st/7548023.stm

I'm not sure what to make of this. On the one hand, a politician must realise that firing AK-47's in Pakistan is not a sensible thing to do. I just don't understand why he was firing a gun in the first place.

    Am I missing something here?

Don't see what the fuss is about personally, unless they believe he was somehow glorifying firearms whilst thier against them, or if they think that this shows his views are incompatible with the partys..

Obviously Mr Hanif was preparing himself for the planned Scottish Uprising. Our local Scotsman, Mijnheer Van Driel, is making hour-long marches through the Dutch Mountains in order to be in shape when the time comes. The Belgian Scotsman, Jerom DeBeulacker, had his kilt fitted last week. I suspect it won't be long before they strike.

According to this article, the SNP vowed to ban even air-guns in Scotland, so I guess that explains what looks like an over-reaction from over here. Party members have to toe the party line/vow.

Meanwhile, Councillor Hanif apparently fired Kalashnikov rounds in a (celebratory?) manner, as is the style in Pakistan before he was elected to office. It would probably be written off as "that was then, this is now", except the Scot parliament is trying to get the matter devolved out of Westminster, and the 'shooting SNPer' story will get used to paint the party as less than sincere in its intentions.

Brit politics. Gotta love it (and its intricacies).

They are doing so well that they can make a massive song and dance over this minor issue.

No, not the cleverest of things to do if you're going to joing the anti- gun crusade and then get caught helping your 5 year old blast a target.

My friends went to Vietnam and got a chance to do pretty much the same thing. I thought "I'd like to do that".

Wow, that's got to one of the stupidest things I've heard. What a bunch of complete fools.

    Wow.
