First off: I'm pro abortion up to I'd say 20 weeks. My enthusiasm does significantly drop off after 12 (c'mon! 3 missed periods - isn't this a slight clue???)

But what is the logic of these extreme end of pregnancy abortions being legal?

Alright, let me preface my post by saying I am undecided on third trimester abortions (though leaning illegal except in the usually excepted cases - ie rape). I believe that the rationale behind it is the same as the rationale behind being pro-choice in the first place. Regardless of the age of the foetus it is still undeniably the woman's body and her reproductive rights. Hence, the woman still may do as she wishes with the foetus because it isn't anyone else's right to do so.

Something I've noticed from what little I see of Obama in the UK news is that he doesn't seem to talk with much respect to women. He always seems to be calling them sweetie or something like that.
At the end of the day politics is just trash compared to the Gospel.

    REMOVED

Some people didn't like it and took it in a way that was not intended...

I take that as a personal insult. As a Catholic, I find the lack of chivalry shown towards women these days disgusting.

    I blame feminism.

That is a bigoted and baseless statement. Are Catholics particularly known for their misogyny in Australia, more so than the general populace?

    Settle.. it was a joke...

There, I've removed it. I would appreciate if you and EMFM did as well.

EDIT: Let me make it obvious - I bear no grudge against Catholics, I know several myself. Its just that most of the misogynists I have met in teh past have also been Catholics, perhaps leaving me with the wrong impression of the church. I apologise to anyone who was offended... I really do feel bad about it.

There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

You also live in Australia where Roman Catholicism is the largest religious denomination. I'm sure that you've met a number of Catholics who are egalitarian crusaders.

Not offended at all, which is why I made the comment I did.

Some of the logic behind it is when a pregnancy goes bad, and the best way out for everyone is a late abortion.
Still maintain that crying on the pitch should warrant a 3 match ban
