What I do is put the cursor over the UI, since that's all getting cropped out anyways.

Use one of the AI formation mods! I'm using Darth Stalins and the UI and radar are hidden as a pop down at top of screen, plus no banners and arrows makes the battles a lot better looking though it takes a little getting used to.

That's done through the preferences scripts, not via any AI mods ;)
