Using the console

In my new campaign I'm thinking of giving some factions certain cities to help the game get more interesting (some Spanish cities to Carthage, some to Pontos etc) but I have no idea how to. I've heard people say that they can give cities to factions using the console, but I don't know the first thing about using the console besides using the toggle_fow cheat. Any tips? Cheers
