Thread: Two Marian Questions

    Default Two Marian Questions

First of all, do I need seven Latifundia in Italy to trigger. The FAQ is somewhat ambiguous, at least to my reading. Secondly, if a general has all the necessary traits and influence-command, are there any traits that could keep him from becoming a PotentialReformator? Thanks.

    Marian
The Marian Reforms mark a shift between citizen soldiers and professional
soldiers from any class who are supplied their equipment by the state. These
reforms will occur when you have a large empire with a lack of landed citizens
to fill the growing need for soldiers. If at this point there is a man willing to
make the changes to the military system, the reforms will take place.
    ● At least the year 172BC
    ● Have more than 6 Latifundia built in Italy
    ● Hold at least 45 settlements
    ● Fight more than 250 battles
    ● Have a character that is:
    Sharp/Charismatic/Vigorous
    Popularis
    Consul or Ex-Consul
    Has Influence > 2
    Has Command > 2
    OR
    ● Conquer 90 settlements.

Okay, thanks, but I have that information. Maybe I need to be more specific. Here's three pictures showing all the traits of the guy I want to be the next Marius.

Now, is there any reason he shouldn't be able to trigger the reforms? His dad got the Potential Reformator trait, and he's Not Like His Father, but that shouldn't stand in the way, should it? Also, what is the significance of the upgrade from Potential Reformator to Reformator. One of my other characters got that earlier, but he's dead now.

A Potential Reformator will become an actual Reformator if he's faction leader, I think. If your faction leader is Reformator, you will have reforms if the rest of the conditions are met, such as time.

Okay, and there can't be two Potential Reformators at once, can there? I thought the FL bit was just for Imperials, though. Anyway.

I would have to consult the code to be certain. I would just advise you to play the game and things will happen as they do.

Like I have been for the past two weeks, loading and reloading in an effort to keep my candidates from dying. Shameful, I know. But it's not your fault. Thanks for the help.

No, that's the Augustan reforms that you're thinking about.

And I've got them! Cohors Reformata and all! Now I just have to get past these endless CTDs. The Pahlava seem to be triggering them. . .

It's a vast agricultural estate manned by thousands of slaves. It's the third tier building starting with the grant of land.

Alright thanks. I have started building them throughout Italian lands.

And if anyone cares, I have taken out almost all ofIberia, barring 1 Lusotanian city, and 2 Elutheroi cities. Meanwhile, the Aedui declared war on me, in which time I convinced the Arverni to declare war on them with a 40,000 denarii bribe, along with 6,000 a turn for 5 turns. So far I have taken mediolanium, defeated the Aedui on the field many times and should be able to push for final victory by the time I finish with Iberia. Meanwhile, I allied the Sweboz.

Any reason why I cant ally the Arverni?

Also, whats this I heard about the Egyptions taking the city of Sidon and becoming unstoppable? Is that true? Because that dictates my planes to take Greece/take out Kionon Hellenon (and save my ally, Macedonia) or land 3 field armies in the heart of Egypt to cut off their homeland.
